JATIMTIMES - Tren double cleansing yang ramai di media sosial membuat banyak orang menganggap metode tersebut wajib dilakukan setiap hari. Padahal, menurut skincare educator dr Giovanni Mustopo, tidak semua orang membutuhkan pembersihan wajah dua tahap tersebut. Bahkan, mengikuti tren tanpa memahami kondisi kulit justru bisa menjadi langkah yang kurang tepat.

Dokter Gio menjelaskan, masyarakat tidak perlu terbawa tren atau takut ketinggalan (FOMO) sehingga merasa wajib melakukan double cleansing setiap hari. Sebab, kebutuhan setiap kulit berbeda dan tidak semua kondisi memerlukan pembersihan wajah dua tahap.

“Nggak semua orang perlu double cleansing. Jadi, jangan kemakan marketing atau jangan FOMO. Bukan salah produknya,” kata dokter Gio.

Setidaknya ada tiga kondisi yang membuat seseorang disarankan melakukan double cleansing. Pertama, ketika menggunakan makeup dalam bentuk apa pun.

Kedua, saat memakai tinted sunscreen, skin tint, atau physical sunscreen dengan tekstur yang lebih berat. Ketiga, ketika wajah terpapar kotoran berlebih seperti debu, lumpur, atau polusi yang cukup tinggi.

“Saat kalian pakai makeup, apa pun makeup-nya, double cleansing. Kemudian saat pakai tinted sunscreen, skin tint, atau physical sunscreen yang berat, sebaiknya double cleansing supaya wajah lebih bersih dan gak gampang komeduan atau jerawatan,” jelasnya.

Ia menambahkan, wajah yang sangat kotor akibat aktivitas di luar ruangan juga sebaiknya dibersihkan dengan metode tersebut agar sisa kotoran tidak menyumbat pori-pori.

“Di saat wajah kalian kotor banget, kena debu, kena lumpur, kena apa pun itu sebaiknya double cleansing. Di luar itu gak usah,” imbuh dokter Gio.

Lebih lanjut, dokter Gio menegaskan bahwa double cleansing bukan berarti mencuci muka dua kali menggunakan sabun yang sama secara asal. Idealnya, metode ini dilakukan dengan dua jenis pembersih yang berbeda, yakni cleanser berbahan dasar minyak (oil-based) dan pembersih berbahan dasar air (water-based).

“Double cleansing itu bukan cuci muka dua kali aja. Tapi bisa pakai dua jenis cleanser yang berbeda, yang oil-based dan water-based. Supaya kotoran itu lebih gampang terangkat dan kalian gak perlu gosok-gosok terlalu banyak,” tambahnya.

Meski demikian, bagi pemilik kulit sensitif atau yang memiliki keterbatasan anggaran, mencuci wajah dua kali menggunakan cleanser yang sama juga tidak menjadi masalah selama produk yang digunakan tergolong lembut dan mampu membersihkan wajah dengan baik.

“Kalau budget kalian terbatas dan kulit kalian super sensitif, gak ada salahnya cuci muka dengan cleanser yang sama sebanyak dua kali. Tapi pastikan benar-benar bersih dengan sabun yang gentle,” tutup dokter Gio.
