JATIMTIMES - Banyak orang mengira semakin banyak produk skincare yang digunakan, maka hasil yang diperoleh akan semakin cepat terlihat. Padahal, anggapan tersebut justru bisa menjadi kesalahan yang meningkatkan risiko iritasi pada kulit.
Skincare educator dr Giovanni Mustopo mengungkapkan bahwa penggunaan produk perawatan kulit harus disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan dan takaran yang tepat. Memakai skincare terlalu banyak hanya akan membuat produk terbuang sia-sia. Sedangkan penggunaan yang terlalu sedikit membuat manfaatnya tidak optimal.

“Banyak orang tidak sadar kalau mereka memakai skincare terlalu banyak atau justru terlalu sedikit. Padahal, jumlah yang tepat sangat berpengaruh terhadap efektivitas produk,” kata dokter Gio.
Ia mencontohkan, kesalahan yang sering dilakukan adalah menggunakan serum hingga satu pipet penuh atau mengoleskan krim terlalu tebal. Padahal, serum cukup digunakan sebanyak tiga hingga lima tetes atau sekitar satu hingga dua pump.
“Semakin banyak bukan berarti hasilnya semakin cepat. Justru risiko iritasi kulit akan semakin tinggi jika digunakan berlebihan,” imbuh dokter Gio.
Ia juga menyoroti penggunaan sunscreen masih sering kurang dari jumlah yang dianjurkan. Menurut dia, tabir surya merupakan salah satu produk yang tidak boleh dihemat karena berfungsi melindungi kulit dari paparan sinar ultraviolet.
“Kalau sunscreen dipakai kurang, proteksinya bisa berkurang sangat banyak. Akibatnya risiko hiperpigmentasi, kulit kusam, noda bekas jerawat yang sulit hilang, hingga penuaan dini akan meningkat,” jelasnya.
Ia menyarankan penggunaan sunscreen sebanyak dua jari penuh atau sekitar seperempat sendok teh untuk wajah. Bahkan, untuk produk berukuran 50 ml, pemakaian normal biasanya akan membuat produk habis dalam waktu sekitar satu bulan.
Sementara itu, jika ingin menghemat pengeluaran untuk perawatan kulit, dokter Gio menyarankan agar masyarakat tidak terlalu fokus pada produk pembersih wajah atau facewash yang harganya mahal.

“Facewash yang penting bisa membersihkan wajah dengan baik karena hanya digunakan satu sampai dua menit setiap hari. Kalau memang ingin berinvestasi pada satu produk yang lebih mahal, sebaiknya fokus pada serum atau moisturizer sesuai kebutuhan kulit,” ucap dokter Gio.
Selain itu, ia mengingatkan masyarakat untuk tidak mudah membeli produk hanya karena sedang viral atau banyak direkomendasikan orang lain. Pemilihan skincare sebaiknya didasarkan pada kebutuhan masing-masing jenis kulit agar hasil yang diperoleh lebih maksimal.
“Jangan beli skincare hanya berdasarkan rekomendasi. Pilih produk yang memang sesuai dengan kebutuhan kulit kamu,” terang dokter Gio.
Dokter Gio merekomendasikan penggunaan sunscreen sebanyak dua jari atau sekitar 1 hingga 1,5 gram, serum tiga hingga lima tetes, moisturizer sekitar dua gram, serta facewash seukuran satu koin atau sekitar tiga hingga empat gram.
Dengan takaran yang tepat, penggunaan skincare tidak hanya menjadi lebih efektif, tetapi juga membantu mengurangi risiko iritasi sekaligus membuat pengeluaran untuk perawatan kulit lebih efisien.
