Setelah berhasil melewati fase tersebut, parasut utama akhirnya terbuka satu per satu mengembang di langit sebelum kapsul jatuh dengan stabil ke permukaan laut.
Empat astronaut yang berada di dalam kapsul Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, dan Jeremy Hansen berhasil kembali ke Bumi dalam kondisi sehat.
Mereka telah menempuh perjalanan sejauh lebih dari 1,1 juta kilometer, menjadikan misi ini sebagai salah satu perjalanan manusia terjauh dari planet asalnya.
Menjelang pendaratan, Reid Wiseman sempat menggambarkan pemandangan dari jendela kapsul.
“Ada rona biru yang luar biasa. Indah sekali,” ujarnya, dikutip The Guardian .
Apa yang terlihat dalam video viral tersebut seolah menguatkan pernyataan itu Bumi tampak begitu hidup dan kontras dengan gelapnya ruang angkasa.

Video pendaratan Artemis II langsung menarik perhatian publik. Salah satu unggahan Tiktok bahkan membagikan ulang video tersebut.
“detik detik artemis 2 turun ke bumi tercantik kita," tulis pemilik akun dalam video.
Tak sedikit warganet yang menyebut momen ini sebagai pengalaman “sekali seumur hidup”. Visual yang ditampilkan memang jarang terlihat lengkungan Bumi dengan lapisan atmosfer tipis berwarna biru terang, memberikan perspektif yang menyentuh sekaligus mengagumkan.
Keberhasilan Artemis II menjadi langkah penting bagi NASA untuk kembali menjelajahi wilayah antara Bumi dan Bulan.
Dalam konferensi pers, pejabat NASA Amit Kshatriya menyampaikan bahwa, “53 tahun lalu, manusia meninggalkan Bulan. Kali ini kita kembali untuk tinggal," ujarnya.
Program Artemis sendiri dirancang sebagai fondasi untuk membangun kehadiran manusia secara permanen di Bulan. Misi berikutnya, Artemis III, dijadwalkan membawa manusia mendarat langsung di permukaan Bulan pada 2028.
Detik-detik pendaratan Artemis II memperlihatkan dua sisi yang jarang terlihat bersamaan yakni ketegangan ekstrem dan keindahan yang luar biasa.
Di satu sisi, ada risiko tinggi saat kapsul menembus atmosfer dalam kondisi panas ekstrem dan kehilangan komunikasi. Di sisi lain, ada pemandangan Bumi yang begitu tenang dan memukau seolah mengingatkan bahwa tujuan akhir dari perjalanan sejauh apa pun adalah satu yaitu pulang.
Dan ketika kapsul Orion akhirnya menyentuh lautan, dunia tidak hanya menyambut keberhasilan sebuah misi, tetapi juga diingatkan kembali betapa berharganya rumah yang kita sebut Bumi.
