5 Makanan yang Dikira Asli Indonesia, Ternyata Punya Jejak dari Luar Negeri

JATIMTIMES - Indonesia dikenal sebagai surga kuliner dengan ragam makanan khas yang begitu dekat dengan keseharian masyarakat. Namun, tak sedikit hidangan yang selama ini dianggap asli Nusantara ternyata punya akar sejarah dari luar negeri.

Meski berasal dari budaya lain, makanan-makanan ini telah bertransformasi dan menyatu dengan lidah masyarakat Indonesia hingga terasa sangat “lokal”. Mulai dari lumpia, semur, martabak, perkedel, hingga soto, semuanya punya kisah perjalanan panjang sebelum menjadi menu favorit di Tanah Air.

Berikut lima makanan yang sering dikira asli Indonesia, padahal punya asal-usul dari luar negeri, dilansir dari berbagai sumber. 

1. Soto

Di posisi pertama ada soto, makanan berkuah yang digemari hampir semua kalangan, dari anak muda hingga orang tua.

Soto memang identik dengan Indonesia. Hampir setiap daerah punya versinya sendiri, mulai dari Soto Lamongan, Soto Betawi, Soto Kudus, hingga Soto Madura.

Namun, sejumlah catatan sejarah kuliner menyebut soto diduga mendapat pengaruh dari kuliner Tiongkok bernama caudo atau jowtau, yakni sajian kuah dengan isian jeroan dan daging yang dibumbui rempah. Hidangan ini kemudian beradaptasi dengan bahan dan cita rasa lokal hingga berkembang menjadi soto yang dikenal saat ini.

Seiring waktu, kuah soto diperkaya rempah Nusantara seperti kunyit, serai, daun jeruk, dan kemiri, membuat rasanya semakin khas Indonesia. Karena proses akulturasi yang panjang, soto kini dianggap sebagai salah satu ikon kuliner nasional.

2. Perkedel

Siapa yang tidak kenal perkedel? Lauk pelengkap yang sering hadir di meja makan ini ternyata punya akar dari Belanda.

Perkedel diyakini berasal dari makanan Belanda bernama frikadel atau frikadeller. Pada versi aslinya, hidangan ini lebih banyak menggunakan daging cincang sebagai bahan utama.

Saat masuk ke Indonesia pada masa kolonial, resep tersebut kemudian diadaptasi dengan bahan yang lebih mudah ditemui, terutama kentang.

Hasilnya adalah perkedel kentang yang lembut di dalam dan renyah di luar. Di beberapa daerah, variasinya bahkan berkembang menggunakan jagung atau tahu.

3. Martabak Telur

Martabak telur yang sering jadi menu favorit malam hari ternyata terinspirasi dari makanan India bernama murtabak. Kuliner ini dibawa oleh saudagar India dan Arab yang datang ke Nusantara, lalu berkembang pesat terutama di wilayah pesisir Jawa.

Di Indonesia, martabak telur mulai populer sekitar era 1930-an, salah satunya di kawasan Tegal dan kota-kota perdagangan lainnya.

Isian telur, daging cincang, daun bawang, dan bumbu kari menjadi ciri khas yang masih bertahan hingga kini.

Menariknya, versi Indonesia mengalami modifikasi rasa agar lebih sesuai dengan selera lokal, termasuk tambahan acar timun dan cabai rawit.

Percakapan soal asal martabak juga cukup sering muncul di komunitas daring, dengan banyak netizen mengaitkannya dengan akar India dan kawasan Arab. 

4. Semur

Semur juga sering dianggap makanan rumahan khas Indonesia, padahal hidangan ini punya jejak kuat dari Belanda.

Nama semur diyakini berasal dari kata Belanda smoor, yang berarti teknik memasak dengan cara direbus perlahan.

Pada abad ke-17, hidangan ini sudah dikenal oleh orang Belanda dengan bahan dasar daging yang dimasak lama.

Setelah masuk ke Indonesia, resepnya beradaptasi dengan kecap manis dan rempah lokal seperti pala, cengkih, dan kayu manis.

Hasilnya adalah semur dengan rasa gurih-manis yang kini menjadi menu wajib di banyak rumah, terutama saat momen Lebaran.

5. Lumpia

Lumpia menjadi salah satu contoh paling jelas perpaduan budaya luar dengan kearifan lokal. Secara historis, lumpia berasal dari Tiongkok dan dibawa oleh imigran Tionghoa ke Indonesia, khususnya Semarang. 

Menurut sejarah yang banyak beredar, lumpia berkembang dari hasil percampuran budaya Tionghoa dan Jawa. Awalnya, isi lumpia menggunakan rebung dan daging babi khas resep Tiongkok.

Namun setelah beradaptasi dengan masyarakat lokal yang mayoritas Muslim, isiannya berubah menjadi rebung manis, ayam, dan udang. 

Kini lumpia Semarang justru menjadi salah satu ikon kuliner Indonesia yang sangat terkenal.
