JATIMTIMES - Pada musim hujan biasanya kamu akan sering bertemu dengan katak dan kodok. Namun, tahukah kamu jika kedua hewan tersebut bukanlah hewan yang sama?

Banyak orang menganggap bahwa katak dan kodok adalah sama. Memang, keduanya merupakan anggota dalam kelas yang sama, yakni Amphibia. Artinya baik katak dan kodok bisa hidup di dua alam, air dan darat.

Selain itu, katak dan kodok juga merupakan anggota dari ordo yang sama, yaitu Anura yang berarti mereka berkerabat dekat dan memiliki banyak kesamaan karakteristik. Tapi meski demikian, katak dan kodok sebenarnya berbeda.

Katak berasal dari famili Ranidae dan memiliki lebih 400 spesies. Sedangkan kodok berasal dari famili Bufonidae yang memiliki lebih dari 300 spesies. Kodok di Indonesia sering dikenal juga dengan nama bangkong.

Walaupun bentuknya sama, namun ternyata katak dan kodok sangat berbeda.

Dilansir dari akun Tiktok @goodnewsfromindonesia, berikut perbedaan antara katak dan kodok.

1. Kulit

Katak: katak memiliki kulit yang halus dan cenderung lembap. Selain itu, kulit katak berlendir. Warna kulit katak lebih bervariasi, mulai hijau zaitun, kuning, abu-abu, hingga cokelat.

Kodok: kulit kodok pada umumnya kasar, berbintil-bintil dan kering. Karena itu, kodok dapat bertahan lebih lama di tempat yang kering. Kulit kodok biasanya berwarna cokelat.

2. Bentuk telur

Katak: saat musim kawin, telur katak bergerombol seperti anggur. Biasanya beberapa katak betina membawa telur-telur di punggung dan meninggalkan kecebong setelah lahir.

Kodok: bentuk telur kodok memanjang, mirip rantai, dan diletakkan di tanaman air. Kodok tidak meninggalkan anak-anaknya meski sudah menjadi kecebong.

3. Bentuk Tubuh

Katak: memiliki tubuh yang ramping dan cenderung terlihat 'atletis'.

Kodok: tubuh kodok lebih berisi dan pendek.

4. Jari

Katak: ujung jari berbentuk bulat-kecil, yang digunakan untuk menempel di pohon.

Kodok: jari mirip cakar, digunakan untuk menggali.

5. Tungkai

Katak: memiliki tungkai yang kuat dan terlihat lebih panjang. Tungkai katak juga berselaput.

Kodok: tungkai bagian belakang pendek.

6. Cara Bergerak

Katak: melompat dan jarang merangkak. Lompatan katak bisa lebih panjang dari tubuhnya.

Kodok: Biasanya kodok bergerak dengan merangkak. Jika melompat, lompatannya lebih pendek dari panjang tubuhnya.

7. Racun

Katak: Tidak beracun

Kodok: Ada yang beracun. Kelenjar yang menonjol di bagian leher dan pundak memancarkan racun ringan.

8. Habitat

Katak: hidup di pohon, sungai, danau, rawa, sawah, dan lain-lain.

Kodok: tepi sungai, sekitar rumah, dan kayu lapuk.

9. Digunakan Sebagai Makanan

Katak: dapat dimakan

Kodok: tidak bisa karena ada sebagian jenis kodok yang beracun.
