JATIMTIMES - Memasuki masa libur sekolah, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi 8 Surabaya meningkatkan kewaspadaan terhadap aktivitas masyarakat di sekitar jalur rel di Kota Malang dan Kabupaten Malang. Seiring meningkatnya aktivitas bermain di luar rumah, orang tua diimbau lebih waspada dan memastikan anak-anak tidak menjadikan rel kereta api sebagai tempat bermain serta lokasi berburu foto.

Liburan sekolah kerap diiringi meningkatnya aktivitas anak-anak di luar rumah. Mulai dari bermain layang-layang, bersepeda, hingga sekadar duduk atau berswafoto di sekitar jalur kereta api. Padahal, kawasan rel merupakan area terbatas yang diperuntukkan khusus bagi operasional perjalanan kereta api.

Pelaksana Harian Manajer Humas KAI Daop 8 Surabaya, Reynold Parulian Napitupulu, mengatakan keselamatan menjadi hal yang tidak bisa ditawar. Apalagi jalur kereta api di wilayah Malang tergolong padat dan dilalui kereta jarak jauh maupun lokal dengan kecepatan tinggi.

“Kami mengajak seluruh orang tua di Kota Malang dan Kabupaten Malang untuk meningkatkan pengawasan terhadap anak-anak selama masa liburan sekolah. Jalur kereta api bukan tempat bermain karena sangat berbahaya dan dapat mengancam keselamatan,” imbau Reynold, Senin (22/6/2026).

Selain mengimbau masyarakat untuk tidak beraktivitas di sekitar rel, KAI Daop 8 Surabaya juga menyoroti pentingnya menjaga fasilitas perkeretaapian dari aksi vandalisme. Mulai dari pencoretan badan kereta, perusakan fasilitas stasiun, hingga meletakkan benda asing di jalur rel yang berpotensi membahayakan perjalanan kereta api.

“Fasilitas perkeretaapian merupakan aset negara yang digunakan untuk melayani kebutuhan transportasi masyarakat. Karena itu, setiap bentuk perusakan maupun vandalisme tidak hanya menimbulkan kerugian material, tetapi juga dapat berdampak pada keselamatan dan kenyamanan perjalanan kereta api,” tambahnya.

KAI juga mengimbau bahaya aksi pelemparan batu ke arah kereta yang masih terjadi di sejumlah daerah. Menurut Reynold, tindakan yang kerap dianggap sebagai kenakalan tersebut bisa berakibat fatal karena membahayakan penumpang maupun petugas di dalam kereta.

“Kami mengajak masyarakat untuk menghentikan segala bentuk tindakan pelemparan terhadap kereta api. Apa yang mungkin dianggap sebagai candaan atau kenakalan sesaat dapat berakibat fatal dan membahayakan banyak orang,” tambahnya.

Di sisi lain, kesadaran masyarakat di Malang untuk menjaga keselamatan perjalanan kereta api terus meningkat. Sepanjang 2025 hanya tercatat satu kasus vandalisme terhadap prasarana perkeretaapian, sedangkan hingga Juni 2026 belum ditemukan kasus vandalisme maupun pelemparan terhadap kereta api di wilayah Kota dan Kabupaten Malang.

Untuk memperkuat budaya keselamatan, KAI Daop 8 Surabaya telah menggelar 55 kegiatan sosialisasi kepada pelajar, pengguna jalan di perlintasan sebidang, serta masyarakat yang beraktivitas di sekitar rel. Selama masa libur sekolah, pengawasan juga diperketat melalui patroli petugas keamanan, pemeriksaan jalur, serta koordinasi dengan aparat dan masyarakat sekitar agar perjalanan kereta api tetap aman dan lancar.
