JATIMTIMES – Dinas Kepemudaan, Olahraga dan Pariwisata (Disporapar) Kota Malang memanfaatkan Turnamen Berkuda Piala Wali Kota Malang 2026 sebagai bagian dari strategi pembinaan atlet jangka panjang. Kejuaraan tersebut dinilai menjadi sarana penting untuk menjaring bibit-bibit atlet potensial yang diproyeksikan memperkuat kontingen Kota Malang pada ajang Pekan Olahraga Provinsi (Porprov) Jawa Timur 2027.

Kepala Disporapar Kota Malang Baihaqi mengatakan, pihaknya menyambut baik penyelenggaraan turnamen tersebut karena sejalan dengan upaya pemerintah dalam membangun budaya olahraga sekaligus mempertahankan prestasi yang telah diraih Kota Malang dalam berbagai kejuaraan.

"Event ini menjadi bagian dari persiapan untuk mencari bibit-bibit atlet yang nantinya akan kita terjunkan pada ajang-ajang berikutnya," ujar Baihaqi.

Menurutnya, proses mencetak atlet berprestasi tidak bisa dilakukan secara instan. Dibutuhkan pembinaan yang berkelanjutan serta regenerasi atlet agar prestasi olahraga Kota Malang tetap terjaga dari waktu ke waktu.

Ia menegaskan, salah satu target yang kini mulai dipersiapkan adalah Porprov Jawa Timur X Tahun 2027 yang akan digelar di Surabaya. Setelah sukses meraih gelar juara umum pada Porprov IX saat menjadi tuan rumah, Kota Malang dituntut untuk mampu mempertahankan bahkan meningkatkan capaian tersebut.

"Karena kemarin kita juara umum, maka sejak dini kita harus mencari bibit yang terbaik supaya nanti bisa mempertahankan prestasi yang sudah diraih," katanya.

Baihaqi menilai, keberhasilan dalam olahraga tidak hanya ditentukan oleh kualitas atlet yang ada saat ini, tetapi juga kemampuan daerah dalam menyiapkan regenerasi. Tanpa proses pembinaan yang berkesinambungan, prestasi akan sulit dipertahankan dalam jangka panjang.

"Prestasi harus dilakukan secara kontinu dan berkelanjutan. Dengan adanya regenerasi, prestasi yang sudah dicapai bisa bertahan bahkan meningkat," jelasnya.

Ia optimistis Kota Malang memiliki peluang besar untuk terus bersaing di tingkat Jawa Timur. Selain didukung banyak atlet berbakat, Kota Malang juga memiliki ekosistem olahraga yang terus berkembang.

Menurut Baihaqi, berbagai event olahraga yang digelar sepanjang tahun merupakan bagian dari proses pencarian dan pematangan atlet. Turnamen berkuda menjadi salah satu instrumen untuk melihat potensi atlet sejak dini sekaligus mengukur kemampuan mereka dalam suasana kompetisi.

Meski demikian, ia menyebut target medali dan capaian prestasi pada Porprov 2027 menjadi kewenangan Komite Olahraga Nasional Indonesia (KONI) Kota Malang. Namun secara umum, seluruh pihak memiliki semangat yang sama untuk meningkatkan prestasi olahraga daerah.

"Target secara teknis nanti bisa disampaikan oleh KONI. Tetapi secara umum, kegiatan seperti ini menjadi motivasi agar prestasi olahraga Kota Malang semakin meningkat," ujarnya.

Selain aspek pembinaan olahraga, Baihaqi juga menyoroti dampak ekonomi yang dihasilkan dari penyelenggaraan event olahraga. Menurutnya, kehadiran peserta dari berbagai daerah memberikan efek berantai terhadap sektor pariwisata dan perekonomian lokal.

Peserta yang datang ke Kota Malang tidak hanya mengikuti pertandingan, tetapi juga memanfaatkan waktu untuk mengunjungi berbagai destinasi wisata dan pusat kuliner. Kondisi tersebut dinilai mampu mendorong perputaran ekonomi masyarakat.

"Mereka datang ke Kota Malang tidak hanya untuk berolahraga, tetapi juga menikmati destinasi wisata. Dampak ekonominya sangat besar dan memberikan efek ganda bagi daerah," katanya.

Sementara itu, Wali Kota Malang Wahyu Hidayat mengapresiasi penyelenggaraan Turnamen Berkuda Piala Wali Kota Malang 2026. Menurutnya, kompetisi tersebut menjadi wadah untuk menguji hasil latihan atlet sekaligus mencari bibit-bibit atlet berkuda yang berpotensi mewakili Kota Malang pada berbagai kejuaraan mendatang.

"Semoga ajang ini dapat menguji keterampilan peserta dan menjadi sarana menemukan atlet-atlet berkuda terbaik yang nantinya bisa mengharumkan nama Kota Malang," pungkasnya.

Totalnya, ada lebih dari 120 ekor kuda yang menjadi peserta dalam ajang tersebut. Sedangkan rider yang turut dalam turnamen tersebut mencapai ratusan, dengan lebih dari 30 kelas yang dipertandingkan.
