JATIMTIMES - Upaya menekan maraknya aksi balap liar di Kota Malang terus dilakukan. Satlantas Polresta Malang Kota bersama Pemkot Malang memasang rumble strip atau pita penggaduh di empat titik yang selama ini dikenal sebagai lokasi favorit para pelaku balap liar, terutama pada tengah malam hingga menjelang subuh.
Empat titik tersebut tersebar di dua kawasan utama, yakni dua titik di sepanjang Jalan Veteran serta dua titik lainnya di persimpangan Jalan Ciliwung menuju Jalan Letjen S. Parman. Pemilihan lokasi tersebut didasarkan pada hasil pemetaan kepolisian yang menunjukkan tingginya aktivitas balap liar di kawasan tersebut.

Kasatlantas Polresta Malang Kota AKP Rio Angga Prasetyo mengatakan, pemasangan rumble strip dilakukan sebagai langkah preventif untuk memaksa pengendara mengurangi kecepatan sekaligus mempersempit ruang gerak pelaku balap liar.
“Rumble strip ini merupakan salah satu bentuk alat pengendali kecepatan. Tujuannya untuk membatasi laju kendaraan pengguna jalan, sekaligus menekan potensi balap liar,” kata Rio.
Menurutnya, pita penggaduh akan menghasilkan getaran yang cukup mengganggu ketika kendaraan melaju dengan kecepatan tinggi. Kondisi tersebut dinilai efektif untuk mengurangi minat para pembalap liar menjadikan jalan umum sebagai arena adu kecepatan.
“Dengan adanya alat pengendali kecepatan ini, tentu akan mengganggu jika digunakan untuk balap liar. Setidaknya bisa mereduksi aktivitas tersebut,” imbuh Rio.
Dari hasil evaluasi sementara, kawasan Jalan Ciliwung disebut menunjukkan hasil yang cukup signifikan. Aktivitas balap liar di lokasi tersebut kini nyaris tidak ditemukan lagi setelah pemasangan pita penggaduh dilakukan.
“Untuk di Ciliwung sudah hampir nihil. Tapi di Veteran dan Suhat masih kita temukan, karena memang sudah lama menjadi arena balap liar,” tambah Rio.

Meski demikian, Satlantas Polresta Malang Kota masih terus melakukan evaluasi untuk kemungkinan penambahan rumble strip di titik rawan lainnya. Khusus kawasan Jalan Soekarno-Hatta (Suhat), pihak kepolisian berencana berkoordinasi dengan Pemprov Jawa Timur karena ruas jalan tersebut berstatus jalan provinsi.
Rio juga menegaskan bahwa dukungan masyarakat menjadi faktor penting dalam upaya memberantas balap liar yang selama ini meresahkan warga sekitar.
“Peran masyarakat sangat penting, terutama dalam upaya pencegahan. Karena mereka yang paling terdampak dan merasa terganggu dengan balap liar,” tutup Rio.
