JATIMTIMES - Video seorang bapak kos di wilayah Sekaran, Gunungpati, Kota Semarang, berinisial NY (63), yang diduga makan daging kucing viral di media sosial. Aksi NY terungkap setelah digerebek oleh anak kosnya.
Diduga ada sekitar 10 kucing telah dimakan oleh NY, dengan dalih sebagai obat untuk penyakit diabetes yang dideritanya.

Syekh al-Azhim Abadi dalam 'Aunul Ma‘bud menjelaskan bahwa baik kucing liar maupun kucing rumahan haram untuk dikonsumsi. Alasannya, kucing termasuk hewan yang bertaring untuk memangsa, dan hewan bertaring pada dasarnya haram dikonsumsi.
Pendapat ini sejalan dengan yang dianut oleh Imam Nawawi dalam kitab al-Majmu’ Syarah al-Muhadzab : Kucing itu tidak halal, karena terdapat sabda Nabi yang menyatakan bahwa kucing itu termasuk hewan memangsa. Kucing memangsa dengan taring dan terkadang memakan bangkai sebagaimana singa ."

Mayoritas ulama, selain Malikiyyah, berpendapat bahwa haram memakan setiap hewan atau burung yang berkuku karena mereka memakan bangkai. Selain itu, haram juga makan daging hewan buas yang bertaring seperti singa, serigala, anjing hutan, macan tutul, macan kumbang, musang, kucing, tupai, beruang, kera, gajah, dan ad-dilqu (hewan yang mirip seperti musang).
Menurut pandangan yang sahih dalam Mazhab Syafi'i, daging kucing haram dimakan karena termasuk dalam kategori hewan yang mempunyai taring untuk memangsa. Hal ini berdasarkan hadis yang diriwayatkan dari Jabir radhiallahu anhu, yang berkata: Rasulullah sollallahu alaihi wa sallam melarang makan daging kucing dan jual belinya. " (Riwayat Abu Daud, al-Tirmizi, dan Ibn Majah). Nabi sollallahu alaihi wa sallam melarang makan setiap hewan buas yang mempunyai taring. " (Riwayat al-Bukhari dan Muslim).
Selain itu, mengonsumsi daging kucing dapat menimbulkan meat borne disease, yakni penyakit yang muncul akibat konsumsi daging kucing. Penyakit-penyakit tersebut antara lain Tuberculosis, Brucellosis, Salmonellosis, Botulism, Staphylococcal Meat Intoxication, Taeniasis, Trichinosis, hingga Clostridiosis, bahkan infeksi rabies.
